Arsenal’s new signing Gabriel Jesus had a word with the Brazilian media this week regarding his recent move to the Gunners.

Speaking to TNT Sports, the player was asked if he needed to adapt to his new club, but the forward claimed that despite changing cities and joining a different squad, he’s already feeling good in this environment.

“Well, I believe it’s not a readaptation because I’m still in the same league, country environment, so that helps a lot,” Gabriel Jesus told TNT Sports.

“And in an environment where there are many young people, everyone talks, everyone laughs, everyone has fun together. There are Brazilians, there’s Mikel, there’s Edu, there are people from the staff that I also worked with.

“So this part is very important, the way the players welcomed me here is also important, it counted a lot. And, well, I’m happy to be here, for the start of this pre-season. And I believe that it is still nothing of what is to come.”

During a press conference, Gabriel Jesus claimed that the move to Arsenal has to do not only with his club plans, but also with the national team, since he would like to play the World Cup and needed a side who can offer him playing time on a high level.

Adding to his chat with TNT Sports, he also claimed that the decision to join the Gunners has to do with his long-term future, as he expects to stay in North London for a long time and, hopefully, bring the club back to the top of the Premier League.

He recalled that he’s done that before at Palmeiras, the club where he started his career in Brazil.

“Well, as I said, I always like projects in my life, I like to do things not only thinking about today, but thinking about the long term. I came here not to stay one or two seasons, but to stay five. So that’s my thought. That’s why I chose to come to Arsenal, a very big club in England, where they have a very beautiful history, and who unfortunately is dormant a little bit.

“So that also counted, I have this challenge of winning. I lived in Palmeiras a taboo of 22 years without winning the Brazilian League and we managed to win together and it was wonderful for us for our career. And I believe the fans will never forget it. So that’s what I think, you know. Coming to a club that haven’t won a league for a long time and that has been improving every year. The decision was also very important.”
