Real Madrid striker Geyse Ferreira has turned down a move to Arsenal Women in favour of a switch to Barcelona.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Madrid CFF striker will make the move to the Camp Nou this summer.
The newspaper explains that the azulgrana are in ‘very advanced’ negotiations with the striker, whose contract in Madrid ends on June 30th.
A deal is now pending the official signing, and the usual medical examinations after the club moved to secure her signature ahead of the competition.
The 23-year-old had suitors inside Spain and elsewhere, with Arsenal keen to bring her to England after she was one ‘one of the sensations’ in Spanish women’s soccer this past season.
That made her an ‘object of desire’, and Arsenal had thought a deal was ‘very advanced’, but the player has instead opted to join Barcelona, who are more ‘in line with her sporting aspirations’.
A deal is now close to being completed, and Ferreira will arrive as a replacement for Lieke Martens, who is set to join PSG.
