Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers have turned down the chance to sign Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara this summer.

That’s according to Siamo La Roma, who say the player was offered to both clubs, but they weren’t interested.

They explain that the Giallorossi midfielder is on the market but finding a transfer ‘appears difficult’ for him.

Roma have ‘tried in every way’ to sell Diawara, even going as far as to include him in negotiations with other clubs.

That saw him put on the table in the deal for Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who joined Roma earlier this year, and with Arsenal in their prolonged and ultimately failed negotiations for Granit Xhaka.

It seems that neither club was particularly interested, though, with Patricio joining and Diawara not going the other way and Xhaka now seemingly staying at Arsenal.

On that front, selling Diawara would have meant Roma had the budget to sign Xhaka, but that hasn’t happened, and so the Switzerland star appears to have fallen by the wayside.

Roma would like €16m for their man, and it is now something of a priority for the club to find a suitor who’s willing to pay that, with Arsenal and Wolves having turned down the chance.
