Athletic Club Bilbao defender Unai Núñez has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs.
Wednesday’s edition of AS drags Arsenal into the mix.
It’s claimed the Gunners were following the 23-year-old before football across major European leagues was suspended due to the health crisis.
Núñez’s current deal with the Basque club lasts until 2023 and he has a €30m release clause in his contract.
According to the report, the north London club do not have a lot of cash and therefore, they are withdrawing from the race.
With Mikel Arteta’s side ruling out a chance to sign Núñez, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will not bring in a new defender, states AS.
The Spanish newspaper adds the Premier League club are ‘combing the market’ for a new centre-back and have their sights set on Reims’ Axel Disasi.
His contract with the Ligue 1 side runs down in 2021 and the report adds Disasi will be available for €15m in the upcoming window.
