Arsenal are one of the three clubs that threaten Marco Asensio’s continuity at Real Madrid beyond this season, according to Fichajes.net.
With a deal expiring in June, Los Blancos want to hold keep the 27-year-old and have made an important renewal offer. The forward isn’t clear about continuing in Madrid due to the lack of regular minutes this season.
Asensio has been restricted to less than 1500 minutes from 39 matches, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in the process. His displays and contract situation have drawn attention from Arsenal.
Despite Real Madrid’s intention to tie down the Spain international to a new deal, he has doubts, also because three important clubs are ‘willing’ to acquire his services and offer him a ‘relevant role’ from next season.
Arsenal, AC Milan and Barcelona are those three clubs. With regards to the Gunners, it’s claimed they are looking for an attacker to provide cover for Bukayo Saka, who has hardly had any rest this season. Asensio is identified as the target.
Mikel Arteta has ‘always shown interest’ in his compatriot. The Arsenal manager also thinks the player would ‘fit perfectly’ in his style of play.
Arsenal would have to battle it out with Milan and Barcelona to sign Asensio for free in the summer. Real Madrid, down their end, would try to convince him to sign a new deal.
It’ll be interesting to see where the Spaniard will play next season.
