English newspaper The Daily Star has been called out by O Jogo after publishing an article about Real Madrid interest in Porto’s André Silva creating problems for Arsenal.
The exclusive story went out on Sunday saying Arsene Wenger would have his plans to sign the striker shaken after the Spanish club put the striker on top of their shopping list.
It was also said that the Gunners would hope to land Silva for a £20m deal, but the player could be worth around £50m due to Porto’s demands, and Real Madrid should enter the race.
So today, someone at O Jogo was really decided to expose the story. First, they claim they couldn’t confirm that Real Madrid told Porto they’d go for the player.
Then they say that the price is wrong, and there comes the funny part.
By converting the £50m, the Portuguese outlet understood that Silva could leave for only €58m.
But no, this is completely wrong!
The player has a €60m release clause, so how on earth could they accept to see someone rounding off the price just to look better when converted to pounds?
Sixty million is sixty million, so it’s £52m the Daily Star should have used.
“And this is the false part of the news”, O Jogo wrote.
Because the rest of it is probably true.
