Arsenal are set to revive their January interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt because a deal for Martin Odegaard is too expensive.
That’s according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who says the German would only cost €25m to sign this summer.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Brandt throughout January, with it felt he was one of several attacking midfielders that Mikel Arteta was looking at.
It’s believed the Gunners coach is keen to add a creative midfielder to his squad long-term, with Odegaard, who arrived on loan from Real Madrid in January to fill the void, looking likely to return to the Bernabeu.
Brandt was named as a target again last month and then again at the beginning of this month, with it explained that he was on the list of possible players Dortmund could sell.
That, of course, would be of interest to Arsenal, given their previous interest, and Falk now says they are ready to revive their efforts.
“Odegaard is playing quite well, and they would probably like to keep him,” he told BILD.
“But he is definitely too expensive, so they will bring out the old plans from January.
“We have already talked about Julian Brandt from Dortmund and that he is a player that Arsenal would like.
“He will only cost €25m, but of course, it’s a matter of negotiation.”
