Over the past few months, we covered many stories about Chelsea’s interest in signing Estevão Willian from Palmeiras.
The wonderkid has been drawing big interest from European clubs, and it turns out that the Blues may not be the only side trying to take him to London.
According to Goal journalist Thiago Fernandes, Arsenal now join Chelsea in the race for the youngster, who has turned 17-years-of-age this week.
It’s said that even though there aren’t yet offers to bring the teenager to Europe once he turns 18, there are ‘important polls’ being made by several clubs.
Arsenal and Chelsea are two of them, alongside the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Palmeiras don’t seem keen on selling him, and since he has a €45m release clause, that’s the amount they’ll demand to let him go in the coming years.
Estevão only has ten appearances for the first team, but had already shown huge potential in the youth ranks, so it’s no big surprise that Arsenal and Chelsea are in the mix for him.
Recent reports said the Blues offered €40m plus €20m in bonuses for the signing, but we haven’t seen that confirmed by other sources yet.
Naturally, Edu Gaspar and his connections will be key for Arsenal’s hopes.
