Fanatik have today reported Fenerbahce are very close to signing Arsenal’s David Ospina, following claims talks are entering the final phase.
The Turkish newspaper have claimed Fenerbahçe are looking to land the Arsenal goalkeeper for €3.5m and the club are ready to confirm his signing in the coming days. The South American has struggled to get games since arriving from Nice, and he may need to leave Arsenal this summer.
Fanatik say Ospina will sign a 4 year deal with Fenerbahce in the coming days and will arrive in Istanbul after the current international period.
New Fenerbahçe boss Aykut Kocaman has also revealed the Turkish club are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper:
“Volkan Demirel is our captain and a wonderful goalkeeper. But he’s 36 years old. It’s likely we’ll play more than 50 games next season and we need someone as good as him because competition for places is a good for thing for any football team.”
The Colombian’s chances of staying at Arsenal and having a meaningful role are looking slim, and a transfer is his likeliest option ahead of the 2018 World Cup. Ospina needs to be playing regular football over the next 12 months to secure his place for the tournament.
