Arsenal have been warned they will need more than €29.9m if they wish to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
Gakpo has been one of the star’s of the show for the Dutch side this season, with ten goals and 11 assists in 28 games so far this season.
His performances have earned him plenty of attention, with the 22-year-old considered a potential star of the future and the big clubs seemingly lining up for him.
Reports earlier this week stated that Liverpool and Manchester City had both initiated contact about a move, but they’re not the only Premier League side keen.
Arsenal were then added to the list of suitors today, with a report stating they will ‘jump at the opportunity’ to sign the forward as a replacement for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Reports have indicated that they may need a price of around €30m, but Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink refutes that.
He reports how ‘colleagues from abroad’ have brought Arsenal into the race for Gakpo and that a price of €29.9m is ‘linked to this’.
However, according to his information, that is ‘not nearly enough’ to convince PSV Eindhoven. In fact, he states it isn’t enough to ‘even have a cup of coffee’ with the Eredivisie side.
In other words, if Arsenal are one of the interested parties, they will have to offer far more than the €30m that has been reported to get a deal over the line.
