While his former coach saw Manchester United or Manchester City as Caglar Soyuncu’s next port of call, there’s a distinct possibility the young centre-back could end up in Ligue 1.

According to Le10 Sport in France, Monaco have enquired about the Turkish starlet’s situation at the Bundesliga club, meaning talks have already somewhat started to see if a transfer is possible.

However, there is a worry bigger sides than the principality club could end up knocking on Freiburg’s door, like Arsenal.

Why Arsenal are thrown into the mix isn’t exactly revealed, but they are, perhaps due to their lack of depth at the role.

Friday saw rumours of a move for Sokratis Papastathopolous relaunched by the German press, which seemed rather well founded, suggesting centre-back is definitely a position Arsenal will look to invest in over the summer.

Whether Soyuncu is plan B in case a deal for the 29-year-old falls through, we don’t know, but it would make sense.

Perhaps get both and get one to learn from the other? Just an idea.
