Brazilian right-back and Arsenal target Emerson Royal has lived a peculiar situation since joining Real Betis in January 2019.
Even though he first moved to the Sevilla side, the agreement said he could be transferred to Barcelona in the summer of 2021.
The 22-year-old has been doing pretty well in La Liga, and that’s a reason why he’s been linked to several clubs from abroad, including Arsenal.
The problem with that is no one was sure what his future held, since Barça now have the chance to complete his signing.
Mundo Deportivo brings an update on this situation today, and claims that at least on Emerson Royal’s side, the focus is completely on the move to the Camp Nou.
Following a warning from Barcelona that said he’d be spending the pre-season with the club, it’s claimed that his mother and his brother have been looking for houses in the city of late.
Mundo Deportivo brings the full list of clubs who’d been keen on the player, which includes Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Milan, Paris Saint Germain and Villarreal.
All these clubs know they’d have to spend some good money on the signing, while Barcelona are only using €9m to get him, due to the previous agreement with Betis.
Even though the Camp Nou side could make an immediate profit by selling him in the coming months, it now looks more likely that the full-back will really stay in Spain next season unless someone like the Gunners put up an offer they can’t refuse.
