Some Arsenal fans are certainly familiar with Palmeiras midfielder Danilo. The 21-year-old, who’s been standing out for the Brazilian club, was repeatedly linked to the Gunners over the past couple of months.

It turns out the player has now been called up by the national team, and that only raises his status. So as he now gave an interview to UOL, he talked about the plans he has for the future, which includes the English lessons he’s been taking.

“They told me: ‘You’ll have a good season and, when the time comes, you’ll leave. How are you going to talk, are you going to communicate with the coach? How is he going to talk to you, how will you understand?” And I thought and said: ‘Wow, that’s right’. Then I started studying it,” Danilo told UOL.

UOL recalls that Danilo faced Chelsea in the Club World Cup, and was able to take a picture with one of his idols, N’Golo Kante. Then the website writes that just like the Frenchman, the Palmeiras player seems destined for the Premier League, and that’s why it would be no surprise to see him practising his English in London, Liverpool or Manchester.

It’s also said that even though Palmeiras would like to keep him, a sale wouldn’t be bad either. And to let him go, they demand a fee of at least €25m.

“Before going to Europe, you have to play your game, you have to play well for the current team,” he says. “I think that if I keep working well in my team, I think I’ll end up having more chances to fulfil my dream in Europe. Last year, everyone thought about it, but I ended up not leaving, and I’m still in my right mind, working well. And if it’s this season, let it be good for everyone. And if it’s not, I’m still happy and it doesn’t matter.”

Following the many reports regarding Arsenal’s interest in Danilo, the last was made a month ago. At the time, it was said his agent Giuliano Bertolucci was told by Palmeiras they’d only let him leave for €25m, and for now, the Gunners had not presented a bid for the player.
