This week, we’ve seen American outlet CBS featuring a story on the future of Arsenal defender David Luiz, who could be leaving the Gunners at the end of the season.
It was claimed there’s ‘no clarity’ whether the London side will offer him an extension to the contract which expires in the summer, and that’s why people close to him have been looking for new destinations.
However, as Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola released a video speaking of potential free agents who could move to the South American country in the coming months, he has something to say about David Luiz as well.
His report makes it clear that ‘there are possibilities’ that the defender will stay at Arsenal, as he spoke to the player’s agent before recording the video and heard there are conversations for a new contract.
Nicola claims that Benfica and Fenerbahce both made approaches to sign the player, and Brazilian sides would have a chance in this battle in case they offer the defender a good project.
Signed by Arsenal on a €8.7m deal from Chelsea in 2019, David Luiz has made a total of 79 appearances for the Gunners to this day.
