In the past few days, the Italian media came up with many rumours on the future of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who could soon be on his way out of the club.

Among the Premier League sides who are said to be after the 24-year-old, there have been a few mentions to Arsenal, who apparently have started moving for the signing.

As FC Inter 1908 today covers a story from newspaper Il Giorno, it’s claimed that the Gunners have taken ‘the first steps’ towards Martinez’s signing.

Arsenal are said to be in a competition with Barcelona and other Premier League sides for the transfer, and now turn out to be one of the ‘options’ who are currently in ‘stand-by’ while the striker’s future is analysed.

Inter Milan consider Martinez to be a valuable asset in case they decide to cash in this summer. That’s why they’d let him go for the ‘right offer’ and use the money to reinvest in the squad, although the amount the Gunners would need to put on the table to meet that criteria isn’t revealed.

The Argentine, who still believes he has a future at the club, now shall wait on their decision.

If a door for an Arsenal transfer opens, it will likely be up to Mikel Arteta to convince the player, as other clubs are circling, like Manchester United.
