Following reports from the English media this week claiming Arsenal are working on the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, several Portuguese newspapers are covering the news today.

It turns out only one managed to get their own information on this chase, and that’s Record.

The outlet now writes that a ‘charm offensive’ is now being done to convince Nunez about joining the Gunners in the summer.

Following the rejections to Newcastle United and West Ham United offers in January, it’s now said that Arsenal, who could be in the Champions League next season, are ‘a few steps above’ those clubs and could ‘seduce’ the player.

Since the Gunners just rid themselves of Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang wages, Record say could use this money on the new attacking signing that is about to come.

Benfica know they have a gem on their hands and will continue to play hard in the negotiations. Following the bids turned down in January, it’s said they believe they can negotiate the striker’s exit for €80m in the summer.

Darwin Nunez has 26 goals in 33 appearances for the Eagles this season, and has been the club’s sensation in the Champions League, having just taken them to the tournament’s quarter-finals.
