Unsurprisingly, there’s more Hector Bellerin claims in the Catalan press on Thursday. Barcelona links have once again been growing around the Arsenal player, and the new angle on it all is that Gunners chaos could lead to an easier deal.
It’s no secret that a right back is a Barcelona priority, and it’s no secret that Bellerin is the obvious candidate. However, Arsenal’s reluctance to sell and Bellerin’s happiness at the London club had long been seen as barriers to a transfer.
Mundo Deportivo believe that could change because Bellerin is tired of ‘not being able to compete for titles’ and playing in a team ‘where competitive spirit is not an abundant trait’.
To be fair to Arsenal’s squad, if one was to pick out their players most showing an abundant competitive spirit, Bellerin wouldn’t exactly be at the top of the list.
The next step is for Barcelona to make a salary offer to the player’s agent, and for Bellerin then, if he wants, to push Arsenal for a move.
Once again, much depends on Arsene Wenger’s continuity, because it’s thought Bellerin would be reluctant to push for a transfer with the Frenchman there.
