Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has been selected in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for last weekend’s round of matches.

Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from players outside of Serie A, and this week Bellerin has been picked after his performance against Chelsea on Saturday.

Bellerin was in impressive form for Arsenal in their 3-0 home win over Chelsea at the weekend, which has resulted in the youngster making the cut.

The Spaniard was a key factor in his side keeping a clean sheet, and also provided an assist for one of Arsenal’s goals. Renowned for his speed, the 21-year-old demonstrated this when chasing down his compatriot Pedro, who was bearing down on Arsenal’s goal.

Other notable players in this week’s team were Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son, Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Bayer Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez.

Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto made the list two, with Bellerin moved over to accommodate for the purpose of the Gazzetta graphic.

Bellerin has been Arsenal’s regular right back ever since he burst on to the scene in 2014. However, his displays for the North London have brought him to the attention of his former club Barcelona.

The Spanish club may like Bellerin but they don’t really need him, given the progression of Sergi Roberto. The only way a move would make any sense is if Barca don’t see Sergi Roberto as a right back long term, otherwise having both at one club is unnecessary.
