Arsenal star David Raya has admitted he always knew he’d get his chance to impress for Spain, as he’s a big believer in the Law of Attraction.

Plaza Deportiva cover comments from the Arsenal goalkeeper after he made his tournament debut for Spain in the 1-0 win over Albania.

The goalkeeper has six appearances to his name for his country but had never featured for them at an international tournament until earlier this week, instead making his appearances in friendlies or the Nations League.

He remains number two for Spain behind Unai Simon, despite his impressive campaign as Arsenal number one competing for the Premier League title.

Raya was handed his chance to impress this week, though, with Luis de la Fuente rotating his team completely after wins over Croatia and Italy had seen Spain progress to the knockout stages already.

That was a dream come true for the goalkeeper, who has enjoyed a rapid rise over the last year thanks to the increased exposure from his move to Arsenal.

He, though, was seemingly never concerned about his chances and always knew his time would come at some point.

“I am a great believer in the law of attraction, and I have been thinking for many years that I was going to be able to be in the national team,” he said.

“I am a person who very much believes that work pays off and I have had to work hard to be here. It is a dream but with positive thinking anything can happen.

“I am here to help the team as much as possible, make the coach’s job as difficult as possible and be prepared for when he chooses me to play.”
