Arsenal are monitoring Santos youngster Kaiky but could face competition from Ajax for his signature.
That’s according to Goal Brazil, who name both clubs as suitors for the 17-year-old defender, who have been scouting his progress in Brazil.
They report that Kaiky is considered a ‘phenomenon’ by Santos, who have included a €70m release clause in his contract, which runs until 2023, to ward off interest.
That has not stopped clubs from picking up on him, though, and Arsenal and Ajax are both said to have ‘sought information’ on him via their scouts.
So far, their interest has been nothing but one of ‘observation’, and the club deny any suggestions that they have ‘received a proposal’ at this point.
Santos own 70% of his rights and see him as a valuable asset for the future, with him labelled a ‘phenomenon’ and a player ‘with a future’ at a big European club.
Indeed, they believe he could bring in a price ‘above €10m’ at this moment in time, despite his young age.
In any case, Kaiky is only 17-years-old so cannot leave Santos before he turns 18 in January of next year. Thus, any move would have to wait until that point anyway.
Still, the interest is there from Arsenal and Ajax nonetheless, who are sure to be keeping a close eye on him over the next year to see if he develops as anticipated.
If he does, expect them both to be linked with moves in the near future, if not sooner, to beat potential other competition.
