On December 29th, Foot Mercato reported Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor are keen on signing Arsenal’s Cédric Soares in the winter market.
The 32-year-old hasn’t made an appearance in the league this season and has been restricted to 134 minutes of action from three games so far. He has less than six months left on his contract.
These factors have seen the Arsenal player attract interest from other clubs and Beşiktaş are one of them, according to Record.
It’s claimed the Black Eagles have ‘shown the most interest’ in securing the right-back’s services. As of now, the Istanbul club haven’t made an offer but have ‘intensified contacts’ in recent days, to try and secure his services.
On January 7th, Beşiktaş appointed Fernando Santos as their new coach and his arrival has only increased their interest in the Portugal international.
The former Portugal manager knows his compatriot well from his time with the national team and appreciates the fullback’s qualities.
Cédric can now agree a deal with another club, to join them on a free transfer after this season. Therefore, Record say Arsenal ‘should not complicate’ the possibility of concluding a deal, likely in the winter market.
