Widely expected to sign for Real Madrid, Exequiel Palacios is now further away from the La Liga giants than he once was, with a move to England or Germany now a possibility after his agent hinted as much in a recent interview.

The representative explained clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga had recently enquired about his client, among which are said to be Arsenal.

That last bit of information comes from Radio Continental in Argentina, as their journalist Sebastian Srur explained the Gunners had ‘set their eyes’ on the midfielder for next season.

Despite fracturing his fibula in mid February, the 20-year-old is still expected to leave River Plate in June, according to his agent, it just might not be for Real Madrid.

This could be down to Zinedine Zidane’s return as manager, with the stories surrounding his transfer to Spain coming back when Julien Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were in charge.

At the end of the day, clubs like Arsenal will only rejoice at this news, giving them a shot at a player many previously thought was off the market.
