Arsenal are set to announce their new signing Gabriel Martinelli in ‘the coming days’, according to the Brazilian media.

Website Globo Esporte claims that with the player turning 18 this Tuesday, the Gunners are now able to make the transfer official.

Arsenal are reportedly buying Martinelli from Ituano on a £6m deal, and he’s signing a five-year contract with the London side.

It’s claimed that Martinelli has recently traveled to Europe to request an Italian passport, so he should have no problems to get a work permit from the Football Association. That is sometimes easier said than done.

Globo Esporte adds that Arsenal have been working on the signing since the end of last year, so Edu Gaspar, who’s also set to join the club, didn’t have any participation in the negotiations.

Besides having trials at Manchester United and Barcelona, Globo Esporte claims that Martinelli had offers from England, Italy, Spain and France.

In March, we covered claims from Brazil that Arsenal could sign the player, and gave an explanation of his qualities.
