On Sunday, the Paraguayan League had a clash between the top two clubs on the table, Cerro Porteño and Libertad, which finished with a 4-0 win for the home side.
It turns out that according to local reports, the big game drew the attention from Arsenal, who sent a scout to watch a couple of talents involved.
Cronica reports that Everton Gushiken, who works for the Gunners, was in Paraguay to watch two players. Those were Alexis Duarte from Cerro Porteño and Julio Encisco from Libertad.
Pointing out that Arsenal haven’t been able to fight for big things in the past few years, the story claims the club are looking to build a ‘big squad’ for next season.
It’s said Arsenal and Gushiken know Cerro Porteño demand over US$4m for Duarte, who’s a central defender, and that Libertad want over US$10m for Encisco. This isn’t the first time the striker is linked to a Premier League move, as he was close to joining Brighton & Hove Albion this season.
Now with last night’s result, it’s probably Duarte who thinks he gave the scout a better impression.
