Arsenal were one of the sides to send a scout to watch Porto take on Roma in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

That’s according to O Jogo and Record, who both report that Arsenal had a scout in attendance for the European clash.

According to their information Arsenal were among a trio of English clubs to send someone to watch the game, alongside Aston Villa and Manchester United.

They were joined by scouts from Hellas Verona and Borussia Dortmund, as well as representatives from Portuguese teams such as Sporting Club de Portugal.

There is no mention of whom they were there to watch on this occasion, just that there were scouts in attendance.

They watched a 1-1 draw between the two sides, with Zeki Celik’s opener in added time in the first half cancelled out by Franscisco Moura in the second half. They were the top two performers for the two teams according to Who Scored who have them a 7.3 and 7.2 rating respectively.

Other than that, it was a pretty average evening for the rest of their teammates, with Nehuén Pérez earning a 7.2 for Porto and Goncalo Borges earning a 7.0. Gianluca Mancini earned the same score for Roma.

We’d be surprised if Arsenal were there to scout any of those players and it’s far more likely they were keeping an eye on their own Fabio Vieira, who is on loan at Porto.

That’s just us guessing, though, and there’s every chance they were in attendance to watch someone else as their summer transfer planning gets underway.
