On Monday, it was revealed by Sky Germany that Bayern Munich were interested in Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu to bolster their defence.
It was stated that the Bavarians wanted to bring him immediately in January, but the Gunners were resisting the temptation and were determined to keep him around.
Florian Plettenberg has since taken to X to provide a bit more information about all of this, and reveals that Arsenal have sent a message across to Germany.
He first recalls that Bayern would ‘love to sign’ the Japan international during the next trtransfer window, but the Gunners do not ‘want to let him go’.
Not only that, but Arsenal have ‘informed’ their Bundesliga counterparts that Tomiyasu is ‘not for sale’, pushing back any hope the Germans might have had of buying him.
That’s why Bayern will now keep ‘monitoring’ the player’s situation over the coming months, and will then reevaluate a ‘potential move next summer’.
The 25-year-old has been little more than a rotation option for Mikel Arteta in the Premier League at Arsenal this season, starting just the three games, although two of those game in the last two games against Newcastle and Burnley.
❗️Excl. News #Tomiyasu: As revealed yesterday FC Bayern was extremely pushing for the 25 y/o in summer. Main reason: Versatile player who can play at centre-back and right/left-back. #arsenal
