Arsenal are clearly one of the clubs with the best scouting network in Europe, constantly keeping an eye on young talents way before they get hyped.
Now it seems the Gunners have a Portuguese defender on their list to follow, and that’s Diogo Leite from FC Porto.
Club officials didn’t even have to travel much to watch the youngster this time, because as reported by Record, he was observed in an away match against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Youth League this week.
According to the newspaper, the scouts have been excited by the player’s improvement, and should continue to follow him in order to maybe try and sign him in the future.
The 19-year-old has a contract running with Porto until 2021, and is still to make his debut for their first team.
Even though Arsenal would have the conditions to sign him now, it’s very likely the Gunners will wait for him to get to a professional level before making any attempts.
Considering that Porto often give their youngsters a chance, his integration to the first team squad shouldn’t take long.
