Roma remain interested in Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, who is keen on a return to Serie A this summer.
The Uruguayan midfielder has found himself out of favour at the Emirates, with Mikel Arteta placing him on a list of players he wants to move on from the Emirates.
A return to Italy has been heavily mooted, with Torino keen on a move so they can reunite him with manager Marco Giampaolo.
They have been negotiating with Arsenal over a deal for several weeks, with both a loan deal and permanent transfer having been discussed according to reports.
It seems they will now face competition from Roma, though, with Calciomercato.it reporting that they have ‘never stopped thinking’ about the Arsenal midfielder.
They don’t state whether they are pushing for a deal at present or if negotiations have been opened with the Gunners, but do say that there could be a swap deal with Amadou Diawara on the cards.
If that isn’t possible a deal would happen ‘regardless’ with Torreira wanting to go back to Serie A and ‘play the European cups’.
That would presumably put Roma at the top of his list if he had a choice given they finished fifth last season whereas Torino finished 16th.
Either way, it seems Arsenal’s hopes of getting rid have been given a boost, and there are now two suitors for him in Italy.
