Arsenal showed keen interest in securing Arthur Melo’s services in the January window, but the deal didn’t take shape and the player is still at Juventus.
Last week, the midfielder’s agent, Federico Pastorello, revealed his client was ‘close’ to joining the Gunners.
Arsenal are still in the picture for the Brazil international and are making efforts to sign him in the summer.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the track leading the former Barcelona man to Arsenal ‘returns to warm up’ as the negotiations between the Serie A side and the Gunners ‘restart in recent days’.
The player found an agreement over personal terms with Arsenal during the winter. It includes a deal worth €5m per year plus bonuses. He also had an understanding of his role under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.
In the January market, the two clubs failed to find an agreement and that is something the parties ‘want to try to resolve in the coming weeks’. Arthur’s market value is around €20-30m.
Arsenal have ‘restarted’ negotiations with Juve. The Old Lady’s chief, Federico Cherubini, will soon return to Italy from his trip to London, and TMW are of the belief he could have held talks with the Gunners, where Gabriel Magalhães would also be a topic of discussion.
