Despite a lift in the mood around the Emirates and Arsenal in general, Mikel Arteta’s appointment as Unai Emery’s replacement has yet to produce a consistent string of wins.

Arsenal still lie 10th in the Premier League, and good results against Manchester United and Leeds have been followed by a string of three draws, the latest of which came against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

It seems Arteta has highlighted a lack of creativity in his side, and it’s something he’s looking to address, as Corriere dello Sport report on Wednesday that Arsenal have ‘requested information’ on Milan’s Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

Fans of transfer rumours will be quick to point out this isn’t the first time the Turkish playmaker has been linked with a move to the Emirates, and they would be correct, but the Italian newspaper word it as if this is quite new, saying this information has ‘emerged’.

Whether or not it’s recent, this interest keeps popping up here and there, and all this despite the fact the 25-year-old has been a regular feature for the Serie A side this season.

He’s started all 18 league games he’s featured in from a possible 20, during which he’s scored two goals and assisted another.

There’s no indication as to what type of deal Arsenal would be interested in, but looking at his importance in Stefano Pioli’s plans, you would think only a good transfer offer would be enough to convince Milan to weaken their team midway through what is already a relatively disappointing campaign.
