Arsenal ‘remain vigilant’ for Lille’s Gabriel Magalhães, according to Le10 Sport.

For many weeks, Everton have been strongly discussed as one of the contenders to sign the centre-back.

However, it’s claimed the Merseyside club have failed to find an agreement and the report states it could be partly down to the €30m price set by the Ligue 1 side for the Brazilian.

Le10 say the Gunners have also been interested in the 22-year-old for ‘several weeks’.

In addition to this, contacts between the north London club and the defender’s entourage haven’t ‘broken’. Le10 further explain signing Gabriel is still very much an option at the Emirates and Arsenal ‘remain likely to advance concretely’ for the player soon.

As Lille have done before, notably with Nicolas Pepe last summer, there’s the possibility the club are leaking stories to hype the player’s value. That’s also happening with Victor Osimhen right now, and Arsenal have been dragged into that building saga as well.

Interest from Mikel Arteta’s side may well be genuine, but they don’t want to get pulled into a manufactured auction.
