Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette is attracting interest from several top European sides, but the Ligue 1 club are not prepared to let him leave easily.
A couple of days ago, we reported Arsenal had a bid of €35m rejected for Lacazette, and are willing to make another offer of ‘over €40m’.
According to L’Equipe on Friday, Arsenal are ready to offer more than €40m if this bid is rejected, which kind of takes us back to the last claim.
L’Equipe say West Ham offered €52m for the player in July, and Lyon might accept an offer close to that.
Paris-Saint Germain are also interested in signing Lacazette to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but don’t want to accept Lyon’s huge demands.
The French champions will try to sign Jese Rodriguez if Lyon are too persistent.
Meanwhile, Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas says Arsenal will not return with an offer, and that the player isn’t expected to leave the club.
He said: “Arsenal did not return and will not return. Nobody will leave OL except Rachid Ghezzal, if he has a proposal.”
Lyon have already lost Samuel Umtiti to Barcelona, and the with the possible exit of Corentin Tolisso this has made things complicated for Arsenal to land Lacazette this summer.
