Arsenal are one of the English teams to have shown an interest in Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand.
That’s according to news relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who say the Premier League has ‘paid attention’ to the defender’s ‘umpteenth good season’.
They explain that Arsenal and several teams from the Premier League have placed the central defender ‘on their radar’ with the intention of ‘probing his signing’ this summer.
At this moment in time their interest has not developed into a formal bid and neither player nor the Basque club are thinking of parting ways either.
Therefore, the Spanish side have made it clear that any interested parties will need to pay the €60m release clause currently set in his contract.
The player’s happiness at the club is set in the fact that he ‘feels highly valued’ in every way, as he is one of the players in the current squad who always plays and is never rotated.
He is also paid a fair amount after an increase last year which puts him among the best paid central defenders in La Liga.
Thus, there is no grounds for him or Real Sociedad to want to sanction a deal this summer, suggesting Arsenal have work on their hands if they are to get him out of Spain and to the Emirates.
