Arsenal have become the latest club to keep tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji.
Over the past few weeks, various reports have discussed Manchester United’s interest in the defender. On March 14th, Bild reported he dreams of making a switch to the Premier League in the upcoming window.
The centre-back’s desire to make a switch to England has been stressed by other reports. With Arsenal now joining the race, his options to pick a new destination seem to have improved.
The Switzerland international’s current deal runs down in 2023 and has so far not agreed a new contract with the Bundesliga side. BVB already have deals in place for Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck to join them in the summer.
With these two additions in the centre-back position, a latest report from Bild stated it is ‘almost impossible’ that Akanji will continue with his current employer beyond this season.
The player who dreams of making a switch to England is on Arsenal’s agenda.
It’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s side are said to have ‘put out the feelers’ for the Dortmund player. Apart from the Gunners, Juventus are also said to be in the running for Akanji’s signature.
