The view from the Italian media regarding Tammy Abraham is that the striker would prefer to join Arsenal over AS Roma, but the Serie A side are closing in on a deal for him regardless.
Chelsea are prepared to sell the player this summer, and it’s thought they’d much rather he left the Premier League than join a potential rival, even if Arsenal may not be much threat to the Blues this season.
Corriere dello Sport report that Roma are optimistic about their chances, although the ‘pressing’ from Arsenal makes them a little ‘cautious’. To try and convince Abraham to turn his back on a chance to join the Gunners, Jose Mourinho’s club have upped their salary offer from €4m to €5m a year, figures which are after tax.
A new meeting is expected today between Roma and Abraham’s camp, and it’s stated Mourinho wants an answer on Saturday, one way or another.
Should that answer not go the way of Roma then Arsenal will have a better chance of signing the Chelsea player.
