Earlier this week, we covered a claim that Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham all made approaches to sign Lucas Paqueta from Lyon.

However, none of these made it very far, with the player reportedly happy where he is, even if there is no European football on offer at present.

That being said, a new article, this time from France courtesy of Media Foot, suggests Arsenal aren’t giving up so easily, as they ‘seem determined’ to sign the Brazilian.

In fact, they ‘pressing hard behind the scenes to try and push forward’ a deal, and while no official move has been made with Lyon just yet, they are doing their work with Paqueta himself.

Their aim is to ‘convince’ him of the move before opening talks with the Ligue 1 side.

Despite his happiness to stay, the player ‘could be tempted’ by a move if ‘an interesting opportunity presents itself, especially one with a sporting project that allows him to fully express himself’.

That’s what Arsenal are happy to do, with Mikel Arteta having ‘the perfect speech to seduce’ Paqueta by using his experience, and the player is, according to their sources, ‘listening’, ‘very attentive’ to what is going on around him.

As for Lyon, they aren’t ‘completely closing the door’ to selling their star, much like what happened when Newcastle came knocking for Bruno Guimaraes.

If the Ligue 1 side are presented with an offer they are happy with, somewhere around €50m, then the affair ‘could quickly be concluded’.
