For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been seeing several stories from the Brazilian media claiming the City Group are very close on signing Savinho from Atlético Mineiro.
It’s been claimed many times that the Manchester City owners are about to find a deal worth €6.5m, with potential €6m in bonuses, to land the teenager and let him develop at one of their clubs.
Now an interesting update shows up claiming Arsenal are still in the fight for this signing.
According to UOL, the Gunners ‘feed the hope’ of spoiling the City Group’s advanced negotiations for Savinho and win the race for the 17-year-old.
It’s said Arsenal have been, for weeks, ‘looking for a way to present a more interesting offer, on a financial point of view and also on career projection’.
The City Group are still deciding where to send the player in case they do win the race, as UOL say the plan is to register him at Troyes and then loan him out to PSV.
This could be good news for Arsenal, because if they want him in Mikel Arteta’s squad, they then might have advantage in this battle by offering him a direct route to the Emirates without needing a loan elsewhere.
