Portuguese newspaper Record features a piece today highlighting the fact that agent Pini Zahavi is now one of the representatives who manage Fábio Vieira’s career.
They say this doesn’t mean that the midfielder is immediately leaving Porto, even though they do point out that some clubs have been following him.
Record claims that Arsenal and Olympique Marseille are both ‘positioning themselves’ and preparing to negotiate for the 20-year-old.
The outlet sounds sure that Vieira wouldn’t leave in January, and could even sign a new deal with Porto, but the interest from the Gunners and the French side still threatens his stay with the Dragons on a long-term future.
Since the midfielder is protected by a release clause of only €30m, that’s probably how much Arsenal or any other club would have to pay to take him from Portugal.
Fábio Vieira made his professional debut in June this year and has 20 appearances for Porto so far. He’s still getting few minutes in each match he plays this season, even though he managed to start the Champions League’s opening fixture against Manchester City.
