Hector Bellerin has spent this season on loan at Real Betis from Arsenal, choosing a move to the Spanish club because his father supports them.

He’s had a reasonably good period with the Seville club, with the highlight being him playing a key role as Betis won the Copa del Rey. The 27-year-old has put together 31 appearances, contributing five assists along the way, and there’s been rumours of a possible stay.

Real Betis played their final home game of the season at the weekend, and after the match Bellerin was in tears on the pitch, comforted by his teammates.

Estadio Deportivo report several have gone public to say the Arsenal player must stay at Betis beyond the summer, and Borja Iglesias even joked about setting up a crowd-funder to help pay for a return.

Much will depend on what Arsenal make of the situation, and what kind of fee they’d want for Bellerin, who has a Gunners contract lasting until June 2023.

It now seems clear that he’d be keen on a return to the Spanish club, and it’s just a case of finding a way to make it happen.
