On July 14th, Mundo Deportivo explained Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has a ‘huge temptation’ to join Barcelona this summer.
It was also claimed the forward is viewed as Plan B for the La Liga side as their priority is to sign Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez.
Sport report the possibility of the Catalan club signing the Argentina ‘got cold’ and that’s when Aubameyang’s name ‘appeared’ at the Camp Nou.
Martínez, 22, is one of the best strikers in Europe and is viewed as a player for the upcoming season and for the future.
The Arsenal player, however, could be an ‘emergency alternative’ for Barca, although he can be a cheaper option than the South American.
Quique Setién’s side are looking to bring in a replacement for 33-year-old Luis Suárez, and Sport say there’s ‘no point’ replacing the Uruguayan with a 31-year-old.
Mundo Deportivo also provide a short report and they state there’s been ‘no negotiation’ between Arsenal and Barcelona for the former Borussia Dortmund man because the north London club ‘don’t want to sell’ the African.
Aubameyang has a year left on his contract and Mikel Arteta has repeatedly expressed his desire to secure his long-term future.
Time should tell if the attacker will commit his future to the English side or decide to leave Arsenal this summer.
