Gabriel Martinelli’s return to Brazil was a story which only lasted a few hours.
With social media rumours saying the Arsenal youngster could move to Corinthians on a loan, the local press soon spoke to several sources who dismissed the claims.
Two of those who turned down the chances were Martinelli’s agents and Arsenal director Edu Gaspar, so that sounded more than enough to put it to an end.
Now journalist Jorge Nicola also managed to speak to the striker’s father, and besides talking about this rumour, they ended up chatting about the player’s current situation in London as well.
João Martinelli started by ruling out those chances, as it’s not only Corinthians who have no chance of bringing the starlet back to his home country.
“No chance of him going to Corinthians or any other Brazilian club,” João Martinelli told Yahoo’s Jorge Nicola.
Nicola then writes on his blog that Martinelli’s father admits the player has been bothered with his situation in the squad, as he’s been staying on the bench this season.
Meanwhile, João is quoted saying the 20-year-old has been getting offers to leave the Gunners.
“Since he came back from an injury, he’s been playing a lot less than he’d have liked. There have even been some proposals from Europe, but Arsenal have already warned that they’ll not release him.”
João Martinelli also pointed some of the reasons why Arsenal’s board are fond of the player.
“People like him a lot. Not only for what he plays, but also for his dedication. Martinelli is almost always the first to arrive for training and the last to leave.”
Following a move from Ituano in the summer of 2019, Martinelli has 12 goals and seven assists in 56 appearances for the Gunners.
