Earlier on Monday we covered claims from Italy that Shkodran Mustafi is trying to free himself from the final months of his contract with Arsenal.
It was reported that the defender is looking to become a free agent ahead of a move elsewhere in the January window.
Lazio were presented as being interested, but very much only on the condition that Mustafi would be a free transfer in the winter market.
Similar claims have been carried in the English media, and that prompted Fussball Transfers to contact the Arsenal player’s father. When asked about claims that the player is in talks with the Gunners over a termination, Kujtim Mustafi replied: “I don’t know about that.”
Unfortunately, Fussball Transfers don’t elaborate any further, and don’t make clear whether they feel Kujtim Mustafi was dismissing the earlier claims or simply trying to keep his cards close to his chest.
One thing is certain, if the defender is trying to free himself from Arsenal then his entourage clearly don’t want that to be public knowledge at this stage.
