Juventus manager Thiago Motta is targeting a move for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho when his contract expires in the summer.
That’s according to Bolavip Brasil, who report that Motta has asked Juventus to sign Jorginho to bolster his midfield options.
They report that Flamengo, who have been chasing Jorginho for months, face competition from the Italian side for Jorginho’s signature this summer.
His contract with Arsenal is set to expire in the summer and despite the Gunners being keen to keep him, several reports have indicated that he will be moving on. Flamengo have been working for months to get him signed to a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer.
However, a recent report indicated that Jorginho would now prefer to stay in Europe and even perhaps return to Serie A.
Now Bolavip report that Juventus are interested, with his entourage believing that he will receive a good proposal from the Italian club before too long.
Jorginho has avoided signing a pre-contract agreement with Flamengo because of this, despite optimism at the Brazilian club that the contract they’d offered had been deemed acceptable.
The big problem for them is that Italy would be a more attractive destination and the Arsenal midfielder’s family wants to remain in Europe. Even if that doesn’t happen, he won’t sign any agreement with Flamengo until he’s finished the season with Arsenal.
He’s focused on that for the time being but does have an agreement with Flamengo in place. Journalist Pablo Raphael, of Gazete do Urubu, has also reported there are formal offers from Fiorentina and Besiktas too.
Juventus, on the other hand, have only made inquiries and not made an official offer for him at this point. His agents clearly expect that to change before long.
They’re presented the various proposals on the table to their client, and he will make his final decision in the coming weeks, perhaps holding out to see if Juventus do step forward officially.
