The agent representing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has moved to allay concerns amid a reported tension with Fiorentina.

Torreira has been on loan with the Italian side since last summer and has proven to be a big hit, playing a starring role in their midfield.

They’re keen to keep him beyond the summer, and Arsenal are more than happy to do a deal for the right price.

However, it appeared the possibility of that happening was dwindling after reports claimed there had been a break in negotiations between Fiorentina and Torreira’s agent.

This was backed up by claims from Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso, who hit out at the Arsenal man’s agent and insisted he would soon start to play hardball in negotiations.

That agent has now shared his side of the story and insists the possibility of the Arsenal man returning to Florence permanently is not completely off the table yet.

“There has been a lot of talk about Torreira in recent hours,” Calcio Napoli 24 report him saying.

“I can say that before leaving, we met with Pradè to seek an agreement. It was great that Gianluca Di Marzio explained this situation well, which is a contractual problem and nothing else.

“It takes little to clarify with Fiorentina, and today, if the player decides to stay, my priority is to find an agreement with Fiorentina.

“For now, he is not thinking about other teams because he has had a great time in Florence and is loved by the fans.

“The problem is only contractual; the commission has nothing to do with it. Napoli and Juventus on him? At the moment, I am not talking about other teams, we are looking for an agreement with Fiorentina, and then we’ll see.”
