Having failed to fully settle in English football, Arsenal allowed Lucas Torreira to join Atlético Madrid on a dry loan deal on deadline day of the last window.
The 24-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions, which includes only two starts.
Torreira has been on the pitch wearing the Atlético shirt for 213 minutes this season, and his current situation with the Spanish side has seen rumours suggesting the player will cut short his temporary stay at Wanda Metropolitano in January.
Reports coming out Italy stated the former Sampdoria star in unhappy with limited playing time at Atlético and could return to Serie A in the winter market, where Fiorentina and Torino are named as potential candidates.
Two days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb stated the Uruguay international failed to meet the expectations set by Diego Simeone’s side, and there will be a ‘goodbye in January’.
However, the possibility of the Arsenal owned player leaving Atlético next month has now been dismissed by his agent.
“Lucas is calm and happy and has nothing else in mind but to continue with Atletico. He is finishing his adaptation path,” Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur told Gianlucadimarzio.com.
Bentancur’s comments should put speculation around his client’s future to bed… but they probably won’t.
