The Kalidou Koulibaly saga has been one of the stories of the summer. Manchester City have been presented as keen, but they haven’t yet been prepared to meet Napoli’s lofty asking price.
Having fallen out in negotiations for Jorginho, with the player moving to Chelsea, City and Napoli haven’t been talking directly. Koulibaly’s agent Fali Ramadani has been working between the two clubs trying to find a solution, something he hasn’t yet managed.
This all leaves Sokratis Papastathopoulos ‘waiting’ for a transfer, report Corriere dello Sport in their Sunday edition. The Arsenal defender is thought to already have an agreement with Napoli, however, the deal will only happen if Koulibaly leaves.
With less than a year left on his contract, the 32-year-old wants Arsenal to let him go for nothing. That may be a little optimistic from the player and Napoli, especially if Koulibaly goes for a huge fee.
