As things stand, Arsenal and AS Roma still haven’t found an agreement over the transfer of Granit Xhaka, who will face France next in the Euros with the Switzerland national team.
The midfielder appears to have already made the move in his head, if reports are to be believed, as he simply wants the deal to be done so he can move on from the Gunners and start his new adventure under José Mourinho.
Roma, however, have yet to meet Arsenal’s asking price, and Corriere dello Sport explain they still need a bit of money from sales to ‘complete operations already set up for the next month’.
The first of these is Xhaka’s, with the player awaiting ‘the evolution of the negotiations to carry out his medical’.
It’s stated ‘the details with Arsenal are still to be perfected’, meaning ‘the announcement is postponed for the next few weeks’.
Either way, Roma are ‘in no hurry’ because the Gunners’ midfielder is away on Euros duty and ‘will not be available for Mourinho until the last week of July’.
It seems this could drag on for a while yet.
