Atletico Madrid continue to insist on the signing of Lucas Torreira from Arsenal, but seem to be having a hard time getting the midfielder.
Outlet Mundo Deportivo writes today the Colchoneros are making a ‘penultimate attempt’ for the transfer, as they’ve returned to talking with the Gunners.
Arsenal are said to be making things hard for two reasons. Firstly, because Atletico didn’t want to negotiate the move of Thomas Partey. And also because the Spanish side want Torreira on a loan with an option to buy, and the London side would rather lose him on a permanent deal.
Mundo Deportivo claims that the player already has an agreement to join Atletico Madrid, and his entourage believe the move is happening. However, a deal with the Gunners is still to be found.
They also take claims from Italy which say his agent Pablo Betancour is now in Madrid trying to unblock the operation. But it’s made clear that the ‘total agreement’ between club and player has existed for ‘a couple of weeks’, and the issue is really the deal with Arsenal.
