Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga has been ‘proposed’ to AS Roma.

That’s according to ASRomaLive, who state the 22-year-old has been included in the Serie A side’s list of midfield targets.

Roma signed Georginio Wijnaldum on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the window. The Dutchman has suffered a serious  injury and will spend most of this calendar year away from the pitch.

His setback has forced José Mourinho’s side to look for an emergency solution in the middle of the pitch and the Arsenal player has emerged as an one of the options.

The Belgium international was followed by AC Milan last month, but it was not possible for them to take him on a loan deal.

Roma are aware of the differences in characteristics between Wijnaldum and Lokonga. At the moment, the track leading to the Gunners midfielder doesn’t inspire their leaders.

Lokonga has been on the pitch for three minutes from two appearances for Arsenal this season. Mikel Arteta has preferred Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka ahead of the Belgian in the middle of the pitch so far.
