Playing a three at the back formation quite regularly, Antonio Conte needs a number of central defenders at his disposal.

He has a few, namely Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan De Vrij, as well as Andrea Ranocchia, but the depth isn’t quite there.

That’s why the club are considering a few names to help with that going forward, mostly looking at next summer, when a few players, including Shkrodran Mustafi at Arsenal, run out of contracts.

This comes from Tuttosport, relayed by FC Inter News, who state the German, barely used by Mikel Arteta at the Emirates this season, is among a long list of names ‘being monitored’ by Inter ahead of a potential transfer.

Arriving from Valencia back in 2016, Mustafi has struggled for game time ever since the former Manchester City assistant took over from Unai Emery, making most of his appearances in the Europa League this season.

With no new deal on the horizon, and far more chance of playing at Inter than he seems to have at Arsenal, this is certainly something he’d consider.

Plus, he’d probably get a nice wage from it to compensate for the fact the Serie A club won’t have to pay a fee for him.

It certainly makes sense for all parties involved.
